Creative Music Services At Stewards School

The Creative Music Ltd tutors have provided a tailor-made holiday workshop programme for a number of students at Stewards School. The Performing Arts department is continually seeking to expand the extended schools activities we run and we have found the workshops offered to be an excellent resource.

Sessions have run for two hours with an average of three students per group, receiving specialist tuition on drums, guitar and keyboard. Students began by learning some basic instrumental skills and progressed towards learning to play a song with a full band by the end of the session.

The workshops have ranged from an ‘Introduction to instruments’ for the complete beginner to skills development for our GCSE students.

We have found the workshops a thoroughly worthwhile and successful experience for our students.

A number of positive comments were received from the pupils when asked how they felt after the workshop:

“I think it has been brill”

“I feel more confident in playing an instrument”

“Happy because I learnt new things”

 “Proud to have come”

“Cool!”

Having had a ‘taster’ session on a variety of instruments a number of the pupils have had their interest captured, going on to take up music lessons either through Stewards Music school or by travelling to Sawbridgeworth to work further with the Creative Music tutors. The Creative Music staff are highly knowledgeable, easy to work with and have been flexible in the creation of our workshops. We look forward to developing our working partnership further in the future.
